La Provence Estate grape vines were initially planted more than 300 years ago and have since evolved into over 100 hectares of bountiful vineyards. La Provence Vineyard currently produces in excess of 700 tons of grapes annually. The first 50 tons of grapes are handpicked by wine maker Johan to produce his Eagle Rock wine in the historical La Provence Cellar.
La Provence Vineyard produces all leading wine grapes of both white and red varieties. White wine grapes include Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, and Semillon. Red wine grapes comprise Pinotage, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Shiraz.
La Provence Vineyard Cottage guests are offered a complimentary private wine tasting and cellar tour with wine maker, Johan. Guests also have the option to purchase La Provence Vineyard wines directly from the working cellar.
“The vineyard is absolutely amazing, peaceful and one of the most beautiful places where you can stay in Franschhoek! Johan offered us a private wine tasting – it was wonderful to sit with him in his wine cellar and listen to his wine philosophy.”
